Cleaning and Prevention
At Smile Shapers, we want to help you achieve optimal dental health. As they say, ‘prevention is better than cure’ and this is certainly true for oral health. A beautiful, healthy smile that lasts a lifetime is the ultimate goal for our patients.
A preventive program is a cooperative effort by the patient, dentist, and dental staff. By preventing the onset, progress, and recurrence of dental diseases and conditions, we preserve the natural dentition and its supporting structures. Preventing dental disease starts at home with good oral hygiene and a balanced diet. It is continued in the dental office by the efforts of your dentist and dental hygienist. This will help to promote, restore, and maintain your oral health. Prevention also includes:
- Regular Dental Exams
- Cleaning such as removing of tartar and plaque
- X-rays or Radiography
- Sealants and fluoride are also great preventive treatments that help protect the teeth
- Examination of Tooth Decay
Oral Cancer Screening
Oral cancer screening is a test performed by a dentist to look for signs of cancer or precancerous conditions in your mouth. The goal of oral cancer screening is to identify mouth cancer early, when there is a greater chance for a cure. In addition to regular oral cancer screening, we offer an enhanced oral cancer exams using VELscope screening technology.
