Dental Implants Richmond BC

Dental implants are a great way to replace missing teeth and also provide a fixed solution to having removable partial or complete dentures. Implants provide excellent support and stability for these dental appliances.

When teeth are extracted, the bone begins to lose density.  Neighboring teeth lose the support of the missing tooth and begin to shift. Depending on which teeth are missing, your facial muscles can sag and talking and eating can become difficult. The traditional treatment for tooth loss is dentures, but they don’t always fit well and can slip around your mouth, creating a wet sound when speaking and chewing. A more convenient, more permanent solution is available at our Richmond office!

The Surgical Process
If your jaw has thinned, you may need a bone graft before the implant.  But if your gums and jaw are in good shape, dental implants are a two part procedure. The first part involves inserting a new titanium root into the socket where your natural tooth was.  Once your mouth heals around the new root, a dental crown will be affixed to the top of the new root.  In some cases, a full arch, either the top or the bottom, can be installed on four implants!  From start to finish, the process takes three-six months, including time to heal.

Permanent Prosthetic
Dental Implants are a sturdy, long-lasting treatment.  They look, feel, and function just like your regular teeth.  Forget having to take your teeth out to clean them.  Don’t let dentures get in the way of talking to your loved ones or eating your favorite foods.  Ask the dentists at Smile Shapers if implants are right for you.
